    Nonverbal Communication:

    “The Hidden Message”

In face-to-face communication, body language accounts for more than two thirds of the impact of your message. It is always more emotionally revealing and always more emotionally accurate than what we say.

In this session you will learn ways to enhance your own body language as well as how to understand the hidden messages sent by your prospects and clients.

We will examine how to create a favorable first impression, project personal power, and identify deception. Learn how your use of appearance, posture, gesture, facial expression, eye contact, and voice impact your ability to communicate effectively. Special attention is given to gender differences and how they may account for some forms of misunderstanding.

Bill Acheson is an expert in nonverbal communication. As a faculty member of the Department of Communication at the University of Pittsburgh for over 20 years and as a professional speaker since 1994, Bill has spoken to thousands of people across the United States about how to use body language to communicate more effectively.

From the classroom to the courtroom to the conference room, Bill has worked with professionals who want to improve their bottom-line performance. Find out what employees from American Century, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, Glaxo SmithKline, Ivy Funds, Jackson National, John Hancock, Legg Mason, Merrill Lynch, Met Life, MorganStanley SmithBarney, Nationwide, SunTrust, Transamerica, Wells Fargo, the United States Coast Guard, and the U.S. Army have already discovered. It’s not just what you say; it’s how you say it.

This is a Partnered Program with the PSMA.

Communication is, by its very definition, a two-way enterprise, and face-to-face remains the most effective and powerful means of communicating .  Yet the changing nature and composition of professional firms can lead to a dilution of this core, foundational skill – with the resulting lessening of clarity, productivity, comprehension, loyalty, and even profitability.

In this half-day workshop, nationally recognized communications consultant and trainer Tim Hayes immerses participants in the fundamentals of interpersonal communication through storytelling and numerous interactive exercises.  Participants emerge with a greater appreciation of the connection between business results and communication with colleagues and clients, as well as a collection of practical tools to apply immediately.

    * This session qualifies for 3 hours of Communications & Organizational Management CLM Recertification credits or Communication Skills CLM examination credits.
